At 8.00am on July 12, 2015, the ceremony awarding Nguyen Duc Canh scholarship to childrens of Tan Thanh’s employees having very good and excellent academic results for the previous school year took place at the office of the Labor Federation of Thu Duc District. Attending the ceremony, there were the federation’s representative, members of Tan Thanh’s General Board of Directors and a large number of Tan Thanh’s employees, their childrens.
The opening performances were by Tan Thanh company’s employees. Although the performances were by internal Tan Thanh, they created a lively and joyous atmosphere for the children.
Since 2009 until now, Tan Thanh Company has awarded scholarships to the children of Tan Thanh’s employees six times.
In the first phase, the trade union executive committee of the company proposed to build a scholarship fund named "Nguyen Duc Canh" and received the approval of the Board of Directors. To start the "Nguyen Duc Canh" scholarship fund, the company's trade union executive committee together with the Board of Directors sponsored the scholarships for the company's employees' children in 2009 for 28 people and in 2010 for 36 people.
Since 2011, the whole country and the world had suffered from an economic crisis, and Tan Thanh company was also affected. In order to maintain the annual scholarship fund for the children of the company's employees, the trade union executive committee called on everyone in the company to contribute VND 10,000/month from their salary. With the contribution amount from 2011-2013, the company and the Board of Directors sponsored each child 20 notebooks.
In 2011: 43 children, 2012: 49 children, 2013: 57 children. The amount of the scholarship fund was quite small while the number of children had increased every day and the market price also increased, the scholarship was not enough for the children. In June 2014, the Labor Trade Executive Committee once again proposed to the Board of Directors of the company that each employee contributes 1% of the basic salary (1 month). Thanks to the consent of the Board of Directors and the collective Tan Thanh employees, the scholarship "Nguyen Duc Canh" has been maintained.
The plan proposed by the Company's Trade Union Committee to pay scholarships for children is as follows: Primary school: VND 800,000 and 20 notebooks each; Secondary school: VND 1,200,000 and 20 notebooks each; High School: VND 1,500,000 and 20 notebooks each; College + University: VND 1.7,000,000 VND and 20 notebooks each. In 2015, there were 120 scholarships, of which primary school: 95 scholarships; secondary school: 20 scholarships; high school: 05 scholarships.
Ms. Tran Dieu Canh_Tan Thanh's General Director hopes that in the future, there will be more scholarships to colleges and universities because at the moment, there are mainly for primary school, secondary school and high school. She also commends the students having good academic achievements, hopes that they continue to strive for better learning, and reminds Tan Thanh’s employees to spend more time taking care of their families, especially for the children.
