HCMC Regional Seaports Continue to Maintain Growth rate

Although the general economic situation still faces many difficulties, the volume of goods through seaports in Ho Chi Minh City in June continued increasing.

According to the statistics of Ho Chi Minh City Statistics Office, the volume of goods through seaports in Ho Chi Minh City in June reached more than 5.7 million tons, up 0.7% compared to the volume in May. Thus, from the beginning of the year up to now, throughput reached over 31.7 million tons, up 18.6% over the same period last year.

If counting the volume of goods throughput at river ports, the volume of goods in June reached more than 5.7 million tons, up 0.7% from the previous month, bringing the total volume of goods through ports in the zone in the first 6 months of 2012 reached nearly 33 million tons, an increase of 17.7% compared to the same period in 2011. Of which, export goods reached nearly 12.5 million tons, accounting for 37.9%. 17.3% increase; imports reached nearly 14.7 million tons, accounting for 44.5%, up 9.6%.

The revenue of loading and unloading goods in June is estimated at VND 610.2 billion, up 2.5% over the previous month and up 25% compared to June 2011. The accumulation of the first 6 months reached VND 3,251.2 billion, up 22.6% over the same period last year. Revenue from freight transportation in 6 months was estimated at 13,940.2 billion VND, accounting for 66.1% of total transportation revenue, up 26.6% over the same period in 2011. Revenue from the road transport industry accounted for a proportion of 51.9% in freight revenue, up 32.1% over the same period.

Total volume of goods transported in 6 months is estimated at 56,072 thousand tons with 25,236.6 million tons.km; compared with the same period in 2011, increasing by 11.6% in volume transported (tons) and 4.1% in volume transported (tons.km). Of which: the volume of goods through road transport is estimated at 30,474 thousand tons, up 23.9% with 2,949.3 million tons.km, up 10.9%; through river transport is estimated at 13,721 thousand tons, up 8.7% with 4,576.4 million tons.km, up 8.7%. The state economy accounts for 20.4% in transportation and 58.3% in rotation.
