Goods transportation volume in the first 2 months of the year increased by 7.6% compared to 2017

Generally, for the first 2 months of the year, goods transportation volume still reached 260 million tons, up 7.6% over the same period last year and 48.2 billion tons.km, up 5.3%. If divided by region, the domestic transport reached 254.5 million tons, up 7.7% and 25.7 billion tons.km, up 8.2%; foreign transport reached 5.5 million tons, up 1.2% and 22.5 billion tons.km, up 2.2%.

 

According to the General Statistics Office, goods transportation volume in February was estimated at 129.4 million tons, down 1% from the previous month and 23.8 billion tons.km, down 2.3%. The main reason is that after concentrating on transporting a large amount of goods for the Lunar New Year in January 2018, goods transportation in February slowed

down, especially during 10 days off for Lunar New Year holiday.

If divided by transport industry, in general, the volume of transport increased in all types of transport in the first 2 months of 2018 compared to the same period in 2017. In which, road transport still has the largest volume of transport, reaching 201 million tons, up 8.1% over the same period last year and 13.3 billion tons.km, up 8.9%; followed by inland waterways reached 45.7 million tons, up 6.8% and 9.8 billion tons.km, up 6.4%; sea way 12.4 million tons, up 3.2% and 24.5 billion tons.km, up 2.9%. Air transportation is still quite modest, reaching 61 thousand tons, up 6.1% and 160.7 million tons.km, up 4.2%. Railway transportation volume reached 0.8 million tons, up 0.7% and 0.5 billion tons.km, up 10.3%.
